Johan Steyn

With deep leadership and management experience across accounting, treasury portfolios and premium funding, Johan is an industry leader who has honed his business acumen at well-known blue-chip accounting firms and leading finance companies including Deloitte & Touché Tohmatsu (South Africa) and Centrepoint Alliance Premium Funding (Australia).
Having made a lasting impact in diverse roles, including that of COO, Johan specialises in leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex business initiatives.
Attvest is the result of his intuitive understanding of the financial and operational aspects that drive successful businesses - both for service providers and their customers. His knowledge of the key drivers of business value; commercialisation strategies; and measured risk-taking have enabled him to steer Attvest from its startup phase in 2014 to the 4th largest premium funder in Australia and one of only three privately owned funders operating in this market.
Johan is a Chartered Accountant and a certified member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Giam’s extensive international executive insight and acumen are industry-renowned. As CEO of Deloitte (Australia) he steered the firm to grow to 650 partners; 6,000 staff and a revenue of over AUD1 billion. Under his leadership, the firm won the AFR Capital CFO award for Accounting Firm of the Year; Audit Firm of the Year; Large Firm of the Year and ranked #5 in the Australian Financial Review’s Most Innovative Companies.
Also under his leadership as CEO (and now, Chairman), multinational engineering firm Aurecon - with 5,500 engineers - was voted Australia’s most innovative company and Australia’s most innovative professional service firm by the AFR.
Giam believes that a culture of innovation and agility is the core to creating a thriving business. He’s passionate about equality in all forms, and has received industry acclaim for this approach ranging from ‘Best CEO for the advancement of women in business’; to ‘Best firm for the advancement of women’ and ‘HR Champion – CEO’.

Craig Aylmore

Craig is a 40 year veteran of the Australian insurance and funding markets. Having worked for respected companies including Zurich, Hunter, Alliance and Centrepoint, he has an in-depth understanding of how these organisations operate and the complexities of their interdependencies. The diverse roles he has held and created a legacy in include State Manager, National Manager Premium Finance, BDM, Broker Sales Manager and Underwriting Manager.
During his five year tenure at the Alliance Finance Corporation, the group merged with Centrepoint Finance to form Centrepoint Alliance and Craig and his team gained an enviable leading position in the WA markets, servicing $200m of premium funding business.
Since 2014, Craig has played a pivotal role in elevating Attvest Finance from startup to the 4th largest premium funder in Australia, funding in excess of $1b in premiums per year. His deep understanding of new business development and the importance of client relationships, strategic partnerships and market trends is key to guiding Attvest’s long-term strategy.
Craig holds an Advanced Certificate of Insurance Administration TAFE Perth and is a senior associate of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.
John Sampson

John is a serial and respected entrepreneur, having founded JBS Investments, a value oriented investment firm operating across New Zealand and Australia; and Capevest, a middle market private equity firm.
Prior to these, John worked in the corporate finance department of a leading international investment bank where he was responsible for in-depth financial analysis and valuations of public and private companies as part of capital raising and merger and acquisition transactions. He has also held senior positions at top tier law firms including Clayton Utz (Australia) and Russell McVeagh (New Zealand).
John is a qualified solicitor and holds an LLB (Hons).
Mark Paton
Non-Executive Director

With a Masters in Banking Management from Macquarie Graduate School of Management in Sydney, Mark has over 30 years of experience in banking and financial markets. He’s worked for respected blue-chip corporations including Westpac Banking Corporation, National Mutual Royal Bank Limited and NZ Banking in senior roles including Group Managing Director of Corporate at ANZ banking Group; Chief Executive and Managing Director of FIIG Securities; and General Manager (Vic) at Westpac, to name a few. He is currently Managing Director of AFSG CAPITAL PTY LTD.
Mark’s focus rests squarely on building a solid management foundation. He’s completed management programs including a General Management Program (INSEAD Hong Kong) and Senior Executive Programme (Columbia University New York). He is also a fellow of the Australian Institute of Banking & Finance and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
